Maidenhead & Bray 5 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 4th XI on Sat 28 May 2022 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won 6 wickets
Match report
Game 4 and a trip to nearby Taplow for the 4s against Maidenhead and Bray 5s. 12 midday meet time seems to mean different things to different people and the Greens lost the toss taking the field with 10.
Despite losing the toss Skipper was happy with fielding first on a Track that looked like a batting paradise with relatively short boundaries. Never judge a book by its cover because the reality was quite different, with Killer Gill sending the opening bat to hospital with a blow to the eye from one popping of a length. Despite the early exit of the Bray opener, the host had a solid start with the first wicket to fall to a sharp direct hit from Chacha Chohan @ 47-1. After the pearls of wisdom from Sukhi D the greens were looking sharp in the field and bray struggled really to get the run rate above 3 for the first half of the game. Macca was busy behind the stumps with balls misbehaving, taking a few in the shins and a few going over his head. With the greens in buoyant mood a flurry of wickets fell with Josh and Waqas making inroads on a regular basis. Post drink introduction of the 5th bowlers helped Maidenhead and bray get to 165, with PSG taking a couple and having a few dropped of his bowling.
Both Openers gave the Greens a solid start putting on 43 for the first wicket, before Kyle got done by the dreaded pea roller. The score was never going to be enough to prove troublesome with Sukhi D getting promoted to no 3. Skipper may want to rethink this decision as a run out with the chairman saw his demise, having got away with a couple and looking good for a 50. In the end the 4s chased down the runs in 26.2 overs with Sukh making 43 and Sentil with a quick fire 30 No.
A bye for week 5 means the next league game for the Greens will be home to Chesham, who are undefeated so far. With a first win under Skipper Harry the Greens will feel confident of bring Chesham's run to an end.
