Match report Unfortunately, not the dream starts under the new Skipper, but some real positives, for the season ahead.
Kew won the toss and chose to bowl on a bowler friendly deck. A solid 50 run partnership between Young Kyle and Skipper, gave the greens a fantastic platform, but both openers fell after 16 overs and things continued to go the way of Kew as the greens slumped to 96-8 with 10 overs to go. Enter Debutant Josh and old boy Taheer with an invaluable partnership taking the greens to a very competitive 144-8 after 40 overs.
Quick turnaround and Greens took to the field with Uncle Maz opening the bowling with another debutant Waqas Mahmood from the other end. Kew mad a stead start with Taheer getting a thorough work out behind the stumps. Uncle Maz controlled the flow of runs but the green leaked way too many extras and failed to make any inroads early on. At drink Kew 74-1 with Kyle finally getting the breakthrough with the old full toss being hit straight at cover. Kew looked comfortable and well and truly in control of the game.
Enter the spin twins Josh & Iffy. From ball one they bowled excellent lines and caused all sorts of problems for the Kew batsmen who clearly were not comfortable. despite taking 6 quick wickets, including a run out and stumping, Kew managed to cross over the winning line with 3 overs to spare. With extras being the top scorers, the 4s bowlers have a lot of work to do with regard to bowling disciplined lines during the week. We come back stronger when we learn from our setbacks, and build on the positives!!!!
