Match report 1st round of the National Village Knockout was already upon us and we haven't hardly had a full outing. We got lucky with the weather as the rest of the 1st round games got called off.
Stoke Green progressed into the 2nd round comfortably after beating Coleshill CC by 5 wickets.

Sukh Dhillon won the toss and decided to bowl first on a bowler friendly wicket. Irham Mughal and Richard Parker provided SGCC with an economical start. Mughal took the top 3 wickets as Coleshill's run-rate came to a standstill. Their good work stemmed down to Mazhar Hussain, Saud Ahmed and Ifraz to make further inroads into Coleshill's middle order. Their struggle finally finished as they managed 130-6 in 40 overs.

In reply, The Greens got off to a poor start as Clive Bourne (0) and Dan Simpson (2) fell cheaply. It was down to Tim Gillham and Saud Ahmed to steady the innings and provide SGCC with the platform to go on to win. However, after a long grind, Gillham holed out to long on. It was now down to Ahmed to see them through to the finish. Ifraz came and went quickly, enter skipper Sukh Dhillon. A partnership of 35 almost took them over the finishing line before Ahmed fell just after making his 2nd half-century of the season. This left Irham Mughal and Sukh Dhillon to pick off remaining 22 runs to eventually win the game.

The Greens will now face either, Aston Clinton or Great Brickhill in the 2nd round.
