Match report Some games you just have to put your hands up and say that a performance by one player simply won the game.

Mark filled in for Taher as chief tosser as he sped to the game late, and Mark was top tosser and opted to Bat. A few lusty shots from Ashish at the start were ended after a short time on 10 and Tegh ended on the same score. After 10 overs we were 32-3. The Kuthokathen's were in however and Father and Son team of Augi and Allen started to restore the innings. Some lovely strokes and some huge shots were played in a partnership of 85, both looked to be ready to get 50 until Allen skied a half tracker and fell on 49. James and Augi continued the run rate. Augi went past 50 with some dodgy Eversley fielding. After a partnership of 43 James missed a straight one, playing down Piccadilly when the ball was down Waterloo. Mark came to the crease and then lost Augi having hit a fine score of 83. We were 183-6 off 34 overs so he had seen us through to already a good score. Following this a few big shots by Mark that bizarrely went through a few fielders picked the score up to 224 off the 40 overs, Mark scored 33 and partnered a stand of 31 with skipper Taher.

An excellent tea was had and the restart slightly delayed by a quick shower but we were not prepared for what was about to happen.
Mannan bowled, no wickets, Tegh bowled, no wickets, Ashish bowled - got injured - no wickets, Gurpreet bowled, no wickets, James bowled, no wickets, Amar bowled, no wickets, Augi bowled, no wickets, Mark bowled no wickets. In essence their openers simply played awesomely. One hit 144 and the other 54. There was no clear chance until they were already on 215. We lost by 10 wickets and saw the hope of promotion slip away.
No one bowled badly and we fielded ok, it just wasn't our day and it was theirs.
