Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI v Marlow Park on Sat 02 Jun 2018 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Lost by 56 runs
Match report
Both teams were undefeated going into this match but it didn't take long for Marlow Park to show why. Timmy won the toss and it went down hill from there as their openers - both top run scorers in div 8b put on over 200 as an opening partnership. Maz and Cho managed to salvage 3 wickets towards the end - points that may be valuable come the end of the season - but a total of 301-3 was daunting to say the least.
After a lovely tea we went out to bat and set off at a good rate. The early loss of Sahib brought Gully out to smash a quick fire 50 before he and taimoor were out in quick succession. The run rate started to slow as their wily bowler Barlow was bowling an excellent line and length, perfect for sefton. Augi fell to him lbw and that saw Clive and James at the crease. The run rate was escaping us so the new plan was to get maximum batting points and get over 200. The pair put on 142 together including 100 in the last 10 overs - if only that rate had been kept throughout. Though Scoring 18 off one ball did help (5 wides, no ball 6 and free hit 6). We ended on 245-4 with James 74no and Clive 55no and with 8 points it meant we are now top of div8b.
