Match report The Bourne Supremacy

In the last game of the season, Slough 5s came to Sefton (once they went to the Green) needing 9 points to win the league and we needed all we could get to try be best placed 6th team!

James won the toss and put Slough in thinking we lost last time batting first. What we hadn't realised is that we were determined to make things as hard for ourselves as possible!
In the third over we put down 2 catches and missed an easy run out - this set the tone. Billy returned from his season long absence to bowl a fine spell and had one put down and Chohan after a rocky start was being put down more than a rabid dog. Eventually he stopped relying on fielders and clean bowled the opener and then shortly after had the second one caught behind. The left hander had more lives than the rabbit that got chased around the outfield by two dogs, eventually Greg took a fine catch again off Cho to remove him and then took an even better one to give Cho his 4th. Their late arriving captain then did some big hitting with a quick 76 until Mark got him to sky one to Luke at cow corner and then got another in the same over skipping down the wicket to be stumped. Slough just kept on hitting though, James grabbed one more, but a tough 261 was set off 47 overs.

Tea was taken and another fine one it was from Sarah - a fine season of teas!

Taimoor and Clive went out to renew their opening partnership in the way they always seem to - Clive scoring many runs and Testicules holding up his end and keeping things ticking over. An opening partnership of 129 was put on amongst some interesting appealing in 27 overs. But we couldn't up the rate to get it to the 6 an over required. Taher was out on 2 leaving 7 overs of Greg Batting. Clive had cruised past his 100 and ended with a huge 131not out but we fell short of the target. A draw was had.

Now we just wait to see if we are the best finished 6th place team to see if we are still in div 8b or div 9b.

James has signed off as our skippy and i'm sure we would all like to thank him for 3 years of enjoyable 3rd team cricket. Whether we won or we lost - we always did it with a smile and a laugh and a dog raping a duck!
