Match report A return to winning ways!

Beaconsfield came to a drizzling Sefton this week to resume our friendly rivalry. Skippy won the toss and with a damp wicket as the rain eased he decided to throw the ball at their batsmen and have a bowl.

And it started well, 3rd ball and Charlie had their opener drag it on to his stumps. Ben at the other end wouldn't be out done by his brother and in his second over had 2 wickets, a catch down leg and a good full Yorker. Ben got another (in between the odd beamer)and had the dangerous opener Slater sky one. Their middle order then sured them up a while with some interesting "short" bowling from Skippy. But then Mark got the top scorer out with an edge to slip where Taher dove like Tom Daley to take one, one handed. Then in a shock moment Mark turned one and got the other high scorer - after making a big splash off Moody's bowling - getting him plumb lbw. Moody then proceeded to mop up the tailand Charlie polished the last one off with them setting 148.

After another fine Sarah tea we went out to chase on a by now much dryer wicket.

Idris set the tone in the first over with 2 4s and it was no turning back. Clearly his net on Wednesday had the desired effect after his 1,0,1 run. He and Taher looked very comfortable hitting 4s and 6s to put on and opening stand of 105 before Taher got hit by his nemesis Hitesh on 31. Charlie thought as he had bowled he would give other a go so got a golden duck as the team player he is!Idris was still spanking 6s and 4s and augi thought to join the party and it looked like the two would see us through but Augi fell 3 runs short of our target leaving skippy to take the glory shot for victory. Leaving Idris on a superb 93not out.

A good enjoyable game as always - and a needed 25 points - next week Boyne Hill.
