Match report The one where we beat top of the league!

After being soundly beaten at their place we sought revenge against Ruislip who have been top of the league for most of the season.

On a hot streak of two matches running skippy won the tossing and inserted Ruislip. Usi and Billy opened the bowling in inspiring fashion, Billy getting one opener and the Usi bowling an unplayable ball to one of the leagues top run scorers and hit the top of middle with the batsmen defending off. Usi snared their dangerous number 3 with one of 3 catches by Clive at slip and then with his last ball of his first spell got another clean bowled. Ruislip then started their fight back with one bat blocking for his life and the other riding his luck. Charlie eventually took the luck rider and then wickets began to tumble, Mark got one, skippy got 2 and then Billy came back to get two more including the blocker who had eventually managed a 50. We had bowled them out for 145.

After a fine tea we got pads on and in a slightly tense atmosphere went to bat. Taimoor was in a stubborn mood and nothing was getting through his defense but Allen at the other end went early. Clive took the dominating role (as did Pauline later to James' delight) and looked good moving through to 46 before dragging one on. Augi scored a few meaty blows but Then came the collapse - we went from 84-2 to 94-6, James out for a Golden! Mark then came in and had a good swing, hitting a quick 21 including 2 big 6s. But departed leaving us still needing 21 and Taimoor STILL THERE. But fear not, Usi came to play today! He hit 3 great 4s in a 17no to win us the game with Timmy on 32no after 39 overs and put us right into league contention once more!
