Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI v Ruislip 2 on Sat 15 Aug 2015 at 12:30
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 3 wickets
Match report
It was a must win game for the Turds this week as second place Ruislip visited Sefton and with a damp pitch and heavy rainfall the day before Skippy won his tossing and decided to bowl. It was a Wallace and Gromit type of game as 2 players turned up the the wrong trousers!!! And With Half the team on holiday - well, the Holdship family - the opening bowling came down to Greg and Billy and after a quick wicket for Greg when he actually bowled at the stumps Ruislip then got a partnership going. Skippy changed the bowling and went for split of quick and slow bowling with Augi and Mark and suddenly wickets started tumbling. Augi took the big hitting opener and then the number 4 with an lbw where he grumbled about it all the way to the changing rooms. Then Mark went on a run of wicket taking where Ruislip didnt seem to want to hang around and insisted on giving us catching practise that was graciously received. With 2 catches each for skippy and the returning Steve Mac and one each for brothers Adeel and Idris, Mark ended on a shocking 6 for 19, and with a good spell from Augi getting 3 for 37, we bowled Ruislip out for 120. We resisted the temptation - and tradition - of only eating James' parents teas AFTER games and went for the cake!
On coming out to bat the start was not our finest - after 6 overs we were 2 runs for 3 wickets and ruislip thought they were in for a fine days bowling. But then the brother of destruction Idris and Adeel got going and made a fine partnership of 92 to restore the Greens stronghold, but both were out in their 40s and then with James and Steve Mac out quickly after (after a first ball 6), the nerves were starting to return at 113-7. However all was not lost as an over later Mark took strike to the spinner and hit a 4 and then a 6 in successive balls to end the game in style!
