Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI v Ickenham 4 on Sat 16 May 2015 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won By 8 wickets
Match report
After visiting an away WW2 bomb site last week, Stoke Green visited their own. We arrived to discover that the club house was being renovated and that we were not allowed in. This didn't phase skippy as he long ago stopped using the changing room for anything other than after game shower parties. Skippy lost the toss and the oppo elected to bat first. After stripping in front of the opposition supporters skippy took to the field, and was quickly sent back to find some clothes. We then took it upon ourselves to do a warm up. Very unsuccessfully , we showed off our fielding and catching skills. The opposition openers came out and almost immediately we struck, Augi forcing an outside edge which was held by Taher, I know, amazing. Wickets fell in quick succession as Augi ripped through the top order, his mix of scary faces, funny noises and straightish bowling doing the job. It was soon after that an unfortunate incident occurred. Poopgate. After the ball disappeared over the boundary it was returned with a 'dollop' of dog poop on it. This was immediately spotted by skippy and pointed out to the bowler, after skippy had thrown the ball to him. This was however to stop skippy later getting a 5fer as old Teflon struck and put a catch down, citing the fact that his octopus suction technology gloves where indeed clogged up with doggy doo doo. After Bilal and Augi finished their opening spell with the opposition 3 or 4 down, skippy decided to bowl himself and Majid. Immediately skippy put the pressure on and with some good bowling from both ends the opposition started to crumble. It was left to a return spell from Augi to finish off the last batsman which he did with ease.
With the first innings over by 3 we tucked into our tea, which was a lovely alfresco affair with scones, sandwiches and other lovely things. Well done to Sarah for preparing our teas without a kitchen to work from.
The second innings didn't last long, both openers, Charlie and Iffy didn't last long. This then put in Majid and James who blasted their way through the opposition bowling. Majid finished on 49 not out. Unlucky and Trolll-a-lol-a-lol.
Super performance again guys. Very well done to Bilal who bowled very well for no wickets, but did get a direct hit run out. Also well done to Majid for nearly reaching 50 and to Augie for some great bowling, full and straight.
For those of you who didn't get to do much, I'm sorry, but sometimes its like that.
See you all at training.
Lots of Love Forever.
And PRAISE THE GOAT!!!!!
