Stoke Green Cricket Club 2nd XI v Farnham Common 2 on Sat 31 May 2014 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report Stoke Green welcomed Farnham Common in the fourth league game of the season, with the Greens undefeated this season the mood in the camp was positive ahead of what looked to be a good day for cricket.

2's captain Farhan Sheikh lost the toss for the first time this season and the Farnham Common skipper elected to bat first on what looked to be a muddy and unpredictable pitch.

The ever reliable opening bowling pair Gulfraz Khan and Harry Kibble did not disappoint and the "King of Swing" G.Khan made early inroads on the Farnham Common top order leaving them 12-3. H.Kibble provided strong support bowling five maidens out of six consecutive overs and added a choking pressure on the a Farnham Common batsman for runs. A small partnership got F.Common to 45-3 but G.Khan and Mazhar Hussain ripped through the middle order fairly quickly leaving F.Common on 62-8. The Greens could sense a quick innings turnaround could be on the cards but the Farnham Common tail wagged leaving Stoke Green frustrated and pushed the total to 109. G.Khan finished with 7 wickets, M.Hussain with 2 to his name and H.Kibble with 1 wicket respectively.

After the ever delicious tea break Stoke Green opening pair Clive Bourne and Nav Sahota made their way to the crease to chase a tricky 110. C.Bourne fell early with the score on ten and N.Sahota soon followed after both openers were caught leaving Stoke Green 20-2. Tim Gillham added ten runs before being dismissed with a catch on the boundary. Skipper Farhan Sheikh and Sahib Singh tried to get Stoke Green's chase back on track but both fell for 18 and 3 runs on what clearly was a tough and slow wicket to bat on. This brought the Stoke Green "Akmal" brothers to the crease Gulfraz Khan and Ifraz Khan with fifty runs needed to win and the pressure on, both brothers put on a fantastic partnership to take Stoke Green to the finishing line with G.Khan finishing the game off with a stylish boundary.

In what was a tricky chase Stoke Green held their nerve to gain a big 20 points leaving them in good stead for the visit to Tring Park next week.
