Match report This week saw Stoke Green and Burnham 2's take each other on, with the teams sitting in 1st and 2nd position respectively, both teams knew this was an extremely important game.

With some rain in the air Sukh Dhillon won the toss and elected to bat, Dan Simpson and Saud Ahmed opened the batting and after a steady start Saud Ahmed was judged LBW, this brought overseas player Weerasinghe to the crease but he was soon back in the pavilion. with the score on 50-2, Dan Simpson and Kashif Nizami built a slow and steady partnership but rain intervened play with the score on 80-2 and once the teams got back on the field Dan Simpson attacked the burnham spinners and hit the ball to all parts of the ground. Simpson carried on punishing the burn ham bowlers and brought up his hundred in the 35th over. This brought about another rain break and by the time both teams came back on, the match had been reduced to 86 overs. In trying to up the run rate Stoke Green lost a few wickets but pushed the score past 200 with Simpson reaching 150 and Stoke green ending on 216 after 44 overs. Credit to both Simpson and Nizami who put on an important 139 run partnership in difficult conditions.

Stoke Green took the new ball but with the ball coming on to the bat nicely, Dhillon decided to bring on the reliable Saj Aziz who picked up a wicket with his 3rd ball. Burnham carried on pushing the sore but with some tight bowling and loose shots, both Saj Aziz and Zulfi Butt kept picking up wickets. Stoke Green reduced Burnham to 70-9 but some sensible batting by number 10 and 11 burnham pushed the score to 101 where Aziz picked up the 10th wicket and his 6th wicket in total.

This extends Stoke Greens lead to a massive 67 points at the half way stage. Next week they meet Aldershot as they kick the 2nd half of the season off.
