Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI v NPL Teddington 3 on Sat 15 Jun 2013 at 13:00

Match report
Still coasting on the high of our performance last week the team was in good spirits and were in a confident mood despite the weather and forcast for the rest of the day.
As a captain, I was thinking about the toss for this game all week, with all the rain last week and the very real danger of rain on match day (with Windsor having no covers for our pitch) I was in quietly hoping that I would lose the toss.
On the way to Windsor I had resolved in my head that winning the toss would be good and my decision would be to bat first as rain was a pretty dead cert and the pitch would only get worse as the day progressed.
So what actually transpired..... I lost the toss!!!! and they rightly decided to bat first.
Greg opened the bowling with his usual onslaught but bowled a more intelligent and well thought manner, using the slower ball and variation in his line and length he troubled the batsmen regularly. On came Latif and Moody who bowled well and economically. The breakthrough came late by our standards of the bowling of Latif. With the opening partnership broken we bought Greg back on who carried on where he left of. Others who bowled were Trevor and Osama who played their part. The rain came and went but it was in the 46 over when the rain came hurtling down forcing us to leave the field with only 4 balls left to bowl, so we went to tea whilst the rain cleared.
After tea we came back on to finish the last 4 balls egging Greg in his attempt to complete his first 5 Wicket haul of the season!! And that's exactly what he did taking the last wicket of the last ball of the innings, with Greg finishing on 5 wickets for 31 runs of 17 overs, superb Bowling Greg!!
NPL finished on a respectable 151 all out.
Going with our last weeks performance it would seem it was going to be a walk in the park!! My fears of the pitch getting worse unfortunately coming true we were in the proverbial S*** with our score on 36 with the loss of 7 wickets! However in went Simon who steadied the ship and made a respectable 22 runs before being caught out, it would seem our game was going to end early and in an emabarrassing fashion. However... with Greg and Latif at the crease that was not the case... they not only saved the game, they did so batting calmly and making runs on the way!! we ended up 103 for 9 and taking a much needed 6 points and a draw.
I personally was extremely happy as our lower order batsmen came in and did their part and saved the game, so well done to Greg and Latif.
Next week is an important game against Kidmore End who are top of the league. Guess you will have to wait to read my next match report to see how we fared against the best side in our league.
