Match report Stoke Green tumbled to their first loss of the season as they lost to second-placed Kew 2 by 8 wickets.

It was a dismal batting performance by The Greens as only Saud Ahmed from the top 7 reached double figures. On a sticky wicket, with not much pace to offer, the home team collapsed to due a series of poor shots. There were 6 catches taken at mid-off/covers proving the fact of some poor shots played. Skipper Sukh Dhillon and Irham Mughal batted together for over 13 overs to take the score from 47-7 to 77-7 but even they fell as SG were cheaply dismissed for just 88.

With a small total to defend, even The Greens strong bowling attack only managed to take 2 wickets as they were unable to create any pressure on Kew's batsmen who sailed to an 8 wicket win.

Skipper Sukh Dhillon after the game, "The lads knew this would be a huge game in our season and are obviously very disappointed with the result. We did not apply ourselves with the bat we batted with little or no responsibility. We threw our wickets away regularly and this ultimately cost us the game! We must learn from our mistakes and stop playing irresponsible shots week after week! We have been getting away with it in previous games but it finally caught up with us.

We should of made a better effort to defend the low score but we also didn’t apply ourselves with the ball.

Hopefully this will be the kick we needed and propel us from the rest of the season. Obviously we wanted to go the season undefeated but we have to look at the table and we are still 10 points clear and in a good position with 5 games to go!”
