Stoke Green Cricket Club Sunday XI v Winchmore Hill on Sun 15 May 2011 at 13.00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Lost by 38 runs
Match report
Second round of the Village Cup and SGCC is without Dan Simpson, Clive Bourne, Farhan Sheikh and Shoaib Muhammad.
Winchmore Hill won the toss and decided to bat first and were looking a bit shakey at the half way stage, only scoring 78 with 4 wickets down. (Irham Mughal, Sonu Kumar and Dahron Pitt had kept them in check at the beginning.) However the opposition put together a 135 run partnership which allowed them to get to a total of 219-7 off 40 overs.
SGCC got off a decent start as opener Tim Gilham was scoring freely and Steve Hunter was looking solid. However, Dahron Pitt then got run out which triggered a collapse allowing Winchmore Hill to get on top. Tim Gilham was finally bowled on 75 but the required run rate was well over 12 runs per over at that stage. Irham Mughal, Luke Woodland and Chris Quelch scored in a flurry, but also got out quickly. SGCC were finally bowled out for 181, 38 runs short - the asking rate was too much in the end.
SGCC are out of the National Village Knockout cup in the second round.
