Sonning 2 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 09 Jul 2011 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 12 runs
Match report
After a fantastic first half of the season, The Green wanted to continue there domination as table toppers. It was a 2nd, quick and close game - just like first time round.
SGCC were put into bat on a green wicket that had a few patches. Nadeem Chowdhry got off to a flier, again, scoring 25 as Saud Ahmed (32) helped himself to another stylish innings. After Farhan Sheikh got bowled off an ugly stroke, it seemed like they were heading for another collapse, however, a controlled innings from wicket-keeper Nav Sahota (27) and a quick fire 28 from Raja Gulfraz allowed them to push the score upto 195 where they were eventually bowled out - 5 runs short of 10 points.
In reply, Sonning came out all guns blazing as opener J.Dance top scored with 49. It was yet another amazing spell from Raja Gulfraz who picked up 4-29. At one point they looked comfortable chasing down to the total at 117-5 with both set batsmen - skipper Sukh Dhillon then decided to take things upon himself as he bagged himself 3 vital wickets. Saud Ahmed then took the last wicket as bowled Sonning for 183 - another 25 points (57 points clear of second place).
