Stoke Green Cricket Club 1st XI v Sonning 2 on Sat 07 May 2011 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets
Match report
First league game of the season, and after the annihilating Kimble CC in the first round of the Village Cup, SGCC were feeling confident.
Astonishingly, the first league game only lasted 51 overs (that wouldn't even count for 1 innings). The form had carried forward as Sonning 2s were bowled out for a mere 88 with the 3 pace trio, Irham Mughal and the Raja brothers, Ifraz and Gulfraz collecting 2, 3 and 4 wickets, respectively.
However, the batting was much less convincing, only managing to chase the score down with 2 wickets to spare! It was a typical 'Stoke Green collapse' which lasted all the way down to the innings, until Gulfraz Raja finished the game with a 6 and a 4 in consecutive balls. Nadeem Choudary carried most the innings through with 44.
So a much needed batting performance required in the next game - oh well, 20 points in the bag!
