This weekend brings the start of the cricket season. It feels like yesterday celebrating all three teams winning their respective leagues.
The 1st XI will be beginning their first friendly of the year away to local rivals Burnham. The team will be lead by
Sukh Dhillon once again with a strong side. The Greens will be missing their star bowlers from 2014
Zulfi Butt &
Saj Aziz due to work commitments but this means early opportunities for other bowlers to stake their early claims for the league season ahead. Welcome to
Karanpreet Singh who will be making his debut for Stoke Green along with our resident Doctor,
Puneet Gupta.
The 2nd XI will be hosting a Burham team made up of their 3rd & 4th XIs. This will be a good game for
Farhan Sheikh to get the season underway in which hopefully they will go on to have another successful year. Special mention to
Bilal Khan who will be playing for the 2nd XI who has made his way through the colts system. His bowling has come on nicely over the winter and a young bowler with a promising future.
Vijay Log &
Majid Mahood who have joined the club over the winter will be making their debut.
The 3rd XI will be playing their first friendly in a couple weeks until then we won't be able to see
James Roberts lead out his troops.
Sunday brings
Greg Batting into the spotlight. He will be captaining the Sunday side for the first time. He will be bound to be nervous, hopefully the boys can help him make the experience an easy one.
Good Luck to him and all the teams this weekend.
