Beaconsfield 3 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 13 May 2017 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 27runs

Match report We arrived at one of our favourite fixtures of the year with a bit of trepidation as a number of regulars were unavailable and the 2s had stolen players all week!
Skippy was one of those missing as he was putting up a fence in Bristol or something, so Mark took charge for his first league game as captain and promptly lost the toss and got inserted!

But our fears were greatly misplaced as at some point Sahib had learnt how to bat! After an initial start of 30 before loss of an until then lucky Taher. Out strode Allen and the two batted a 104 partnership with some great batting, so straight at one point it took out the wicket at the other end! Allen fell on 31 - I think he was pushed - and that started our traditional Stoke Green collapse. Having been there for 32 over Sahibs legged gave up going for a single and was run out on a superb 91 (Jug avoidance). Imran and Hak followed within 3 balls and a stabilising innings was needed from Harry. He and stevie Mac took us past the max batting points and we set 195-7

Tea was sparse but appreciated and then the process of bowling them out could begin - if I could just find some bowlers?

Old ball was taken and Luke and Mark went to task. First ball of the innings was a dropped catch which we hoped wouldn't set the tone for things to come. Keeping things slow and getting a quick early wicket for mark, the batsmen were struggling but starting to accumulate - we put down a couple more catches to make things harder as a century stand was happening. We took the new ball and it changed little until Charlie got the break through bowling the unfortunate number 3 on 49 - shame! Harry then got the crucial opener on 59 well caught by new player Saf. Beaconsfield had a mini collapse of their own as Charlie struck twice in quick succession keeping it in the family with catches by Luke and Mark.
With us running out of overs and their number 6 and 7 putting a few on the board the game got tighter and tighter. with 5 overs left they needed 31 on 164. Luke and Mark were back on and then we got wickets, Mark got the no 7 and Luke got the no 6. And then Luke bowled an amazing couple of overs turning it on a good length getting 2 more wickets and the 164-5 turned to 168 all out!
First win of the season!
