Match report After 2 close losses in a row, Stoke Green knew they had to bounce back against a strong Chesham side that came down from the Home Counties Premier League.

Skipper Sukh Dhillon won the toss and elected to bat on a good batting pitch. Stoke Green welcomed Dan Simpson back for the first time this year, Simpson and Hash Hussain opened the batting for the Greens and quickly reached 47 in 8 overs. Simpson was adjudged LBW contributing 27 to the score. This bought Vish Arjan and Hussain together, both batted sensibly and put away the loose balls. At the drinks break Stoke Green had reached 110 for 1 after 26 overs. Hussain went on the attack straight after drinks with the first over going for 17, Arjan then followed Hussain and Stoke Green quickly moved to 156 after 31 overs. Hussain and Arjan soon departed in consecutive overs after putting on a partnership of 110, with Hussain making 78 and Arjan making 38. Saud Ahmed and Karan Singh batted extremely sensibly and made sure Stoke Green would reach a good score. Ahmed and Singh finishing 29* and 32* respectively and Stoke Green declared on 235 - 4 after 48 overs.

Stoke Green took the old ball with the spin twins Zulfi Butt and Saj Aziz opening the bowling, Matt Rance started positively and quickly reached 26 before he was caught behind. Chesham carried on batting aggressively and reached 120 - 2. With the game in the balance Butt picked up two quick wickets especially the wicket of Jason Rance who scored 62 of 63 balls which included five 6’s. Hash Hussain then turned the game with a great run out which reduced Chesham to 165 - 5, with Stoke Green now on top, they picked up 4 quick wickets leaving Chesham on 195 - 9 with 3 overs remaining in the match. A few close shouts were turned down by the umpires but with 3 balls remaining Aziz got the final wicket to give Stoke Green 25 points.
A great game of cricket with the whole team contributing in the win, Zulfi Butt was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 6-82.
