Stoke Green Cricket Club Lost by 19 runs
Match report
Run away leaders Stoke Green were up against Burnham who were second place in the league table. This game was always down to be a tough and close game.
Burnham won the toss and elected to bat first on a hot, sunny day. They got off to a poor start as Saud Ahmed took 3 wickets leaving them 53-4 after 12 overs. However, a long, solid knock from Y.Khan allowed them to reconstruct their innings and put on a score of 222. Raja Ifraz was the pick of the bowlers taking 4-58 of 12.1 overs.
In reply, SGCC got off to a poor start as well loosing 4 of their top 5 batsmen cheaply. However, Clive Bourne (76) stuck in their. Raja Ifraz also produced a valuable knock of 33 where bringing SGCC even closer to their target as they were 176-6 off 38 overs. 3 quick wickets then fell. An amazing 10th wicket partnership from the two colts got The Greens an extra bonus point as they pushed the score past 200.
SGCC then fell 19 runs short of their target meaning they suffered their 2nd defeat out of 13 games - oh well, still top of the table and 37 points clear.
