Stoke Green Cricket Club 1st XI v Chalfont St. Peter on Sat 03 Aug 2013 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won By 87 runs
Match report
SGCC elected to bat first on a soft wicket, the skipper was hoping for the pitch to crumble as the day went on.
After losing a couple of early wickets, Saud and Kash calmed the nerves as the set about trying to see off the new ball. Saud nicked off (well walked!!) which left us in trouble once again.
However, Vish came in and played a counter attacking innings which put us in the driving seat. Once he was dismissed, Kash and Josh put on a well-constructed partnership to get us closer to 200, Kash helping himself to yet another 50! The pitch was playing slower and lower as the innings went on and scoring runs became difficult. Some late order hitting by Josh and Chigsy saw us to 200, which was a above par score on the track.
Skipper chose to use the new ball to expose the invariable bounce. The seamers picked up two early wickets but then the game really changed when the two spinners came on. The ball turned and bounced and they caused the batmen’s trouble from the first ball. Hash bowled superbly got bag himself a 7 for! He turned it square at times and the batsmen had no answer to him.
Important 25 points, keeps us top with 5 games left. BIG game against Slough next week.
