Farnham Common 3 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 19 May 2018 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 88 runs
Match report
At last the sun was out as the 3s did their annual trip to Beaconsfield to not play Beaconsfield - this year it was Farnham Common 3s. Taimoor won the toss and inserted us! And the decided we would bat.
Things did not start well as Gully dropping down from the 2s was out early deciding to not use his bat and being bowled for 2. Clive got some runs moving but then had so much time to a half tracker that he had got bored by the time it arrived and chipped it to awaiting fielder. Idris also looked to get a good start, 4 off the first ball, a nice big 6, pushed through to 21 but again skied one up. At the other end Taimoor was holding his innings together not bothering with any boundaries. As Abu came to the crease a longer partnership began, he and taimoor put on 53 as Taimoor decided 1s and 2s weren't enough and hit a couple of straight 6's. Abu then got impatient and thought a nice stroll down the wicket would be nice on a sunny day - but forgot to hit it and was out for 22. Captain Taimoor then followed quickly having scored 40. Augi had returned to the side and was in the mood for some runs, As'ad helped scoring 13 but also skied up a catch and Taher was just enjoying his sunbathing so much he decided batting was going to spoil his day so missed a straight one. we had fallen to 135-7. Mark after a short time also thought doing the score book was better than scoring runs and was out for 4. Luckily Augi was still there and with some lusty blows got 37 and pushed the score to 179 before again forgetting the wooden thing. With the last ball of the innings Maz also ignored using his weapon and we were all out 182 off exactly 40 overs.
A nice tea for those non-fasting people was had and back out to the sun we went.
Maz was bowling his usual metronomic balls but it was As'ad with his first ball that was a peach that took the top of off - surprising for a fruit to get such good bounce! The had a big hitting opener who had quickly got to 22 but As'ad struck again with an edge to Gully. Maz then came into a purple patch - 3 maidens including 2 wicket maidens. Chohan joined the fun with a wicket in his first over and then again in his third including a nice diving catch for taher - second in 2 games for T-dog. With a batsmen complaining about too much talk the fielders stopped much of the talking and replaced it with constant shhhhhhhhhhhh calls. Maz finally got him and Farnham had collapsed to 43-7 with Maz bowling out his 10 overs for an excellent 3-24. Chohan got a third before Mark came on with them 8 down, second ball saw a wicket fall for him too, curiously bowling a left hander around his legs. Their injured number 11 was able to hit some lusty blows before Mark got his partner trapped lbw and Farnham Common were all out for 94!
Another fine win for the 3s has us joint top with a long trip to Kew next week!
