Match report Don't mess with the Chohan!

With the season drawing to a close and the league ever changing the requirement to be in division 8 next year the 3s knew a convincing win would bring a chance of automatic qualification rather than relying on a calculator.

It was a case of so near but so far.

After being inserted, returning Clive and Taimoor set off on a fine opening partnership, helped with Taimoor being dropped 3rd ball. With Clive as the aggressor they put on 94, but as Clive past 50 his lower hamstring went but whether they effected his lbw next ball we not sure. Everything slowed down after that. The next 10 overs went for only 12 runs as both Kashif and Augi went for not much. Skippy came in and then the rate slowly picked up. Taimoor "Testiculies" Zaman went past 50 and pushed on to 72 before forgetting to use his bat and getting bowled and then Mark and James put on 21 - in one over - to see us past the 175 before Mark also forgot to use his bat. James and Imran took us to 199 off the 47 overs.

Tea was a different thing as we were served up Fajitas and Cornettos and off to field we went.

Early slow bowling (cant call it spin as Mark was bowling) saw a few chances but none taken. Their openers were pushing on as Charlie bowled a rank long hop only to see the batsman pull it straight to Luke! And then came Cho!
Bowling a good length with some fine swing he got the other opener. Cho and Charlie were bowling their best all season. Chohan then clean bowled the number 3 and got the number 5 the very next ball promting the double spinning celebration. Hat-trick ball......missed. Charlie then had a couple of chances put down before getting the number 7 clean bowled and then the number 4 a short time later to a sharp catch from skippy. We were bringing victory into sight. Chohan then did it again, clean bowling the 7 and 8 in consecutive balls. hat-trick ball.....missed. But Cho had his 5 for. LBW appeals were coming loudly but all to no avail.
We needed 2 wickets with 8 overs left. Mark returned and got one. 1 wicket needed. we got desperate and even tried Clive for an over but alas they batted out the draw. This was the second time we had had Tring 9 down this year and the 3rd time overall - just something about us cant get that last wicket!

One match to go and its the grudge match vs top of the league Slough!
