Match report The one where we couldn't bowl them out before the England match.

Arriving at the council wreck (sic)ground in Perivale there was a distinct lack of a warm reception as the groundmen said we had no game and the tea lady was shouting there was no food for guests....as it turned out there wasnt much for the players either.... But Hayes arrived in a team Mini bus to yell and sort things out and with the England game in the evening everyone planned for a quick match. This did not happen.

For the second game running we were inserted having lost the toss and James loves being inserted! The top order decided the England game was the plan and were 37-3 in 10 overs. James and Augi decided to sure up the ship and put on a partnership of 57 this followed a few good partnerships involving Augi (Steve Mac excluded as he REALLY wanted to be home for the footy). Augi hit a good 63 and was supported by James hitting 35, Imran 38 and Mark 26. We declared on 210-9.

On coming out to bat it was evident Hayes were not the strongest batting team, in an innings that dragged on and on and on and on and on and on they shut up shop about 20 overs out! wickets had tumbled early on as Mark and James opened the bowling and took 2 wickets each including a great running catch by Luke. But the 5th wicket partnership stopped the flow - and us dropping catches aided them as we put down 4 chances that could have made it all very different - Charlie continued his unlucky start to the season as he saw 2 chances downed in one over!
After the quicker bowlers had seen no luck it was the return of James and Mark and a first 3s bowling show for Shoaib that got the wickets falling again but we were fast running out of overs. The opener was out eventually on 46 and the steadfast #5 hit one on to his own wicket on 23 but we only had 6 overs to get the rest. We got them down to 8 down with Mark taking 5-52 with 4 wickets off the classic full toss rubbish but couldnt finish them off. With the game finishing at 7:30 everyone dashed home to watch England draw as disappointingly as we had!
