Yateley 4 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 31 May 2014 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won By 100 Runs
Match report
We were greeted at Yatelely by a hut with smashed windows, flying golf balls hitting everything but the course, and a very damp wicket.
Captain Fantastic won the toss and we decided to bat first. The going was slow as the conditions made timing the ball difficult. The first wicket fell as Simon finally gave into the boredom in the 24th over, with score on 93. Charlie came into bat next, and supported Anchorman Taimoor for a few overs. Charlie fell to a ball he thought he should kick and was duly given out LBW. Skippy came in next and constantly stole the strike from the inform opener, scoring a solid 34. Next in came the badman Barnett. who also decided kicking the ball instead of hitting it was the policy for the day. Luckily he was not out and this led to Taimoor taking the strike. After aptly smashing the bowler over his head for a quick 2 he celebrated his first century for the season. Yeah...it was alright I guess Timmy! After Harry got us over the 200 mark with 2 stunning 4s , Taimoor fell into line with the rest of the team and....kicked the ball, and up went the finger for LBW. Robb on debut strolled up for the last ball of the innings, and lofted it to a waiting fielder.
With a solid score behind us we took to the field with the old ball. Mark and James opened the bowling taking some early wickets. Soon after this play was interrupted by a truly shocking and nightmarish moment, when a screeching sound echoed through the valleys, the sound of a duck be rodgered by a dog. Skippy pointed this out audibly, and the batsman was out the next ball, still sniggering. Tight bowling from all the bowlers, Notably Mark and Tanveer saw wickets fall regularly and Stoke Green 3rds recorded their first win of the season. GGGGGGOOOOOOOOOO STOKE GREEEEEN!!!! Well done Taimoor, Man of the match.....even though he dropped 2 slip catches off Skippys bowling and one off Marks!!!!!!!
