Match report Stoke Green took another step closer to achieving promotion at the first time of asking as they beat Thatcham town in the latest round of fixtures.

Winning the toss, Sukh Dhillon had no hesitation in choosing to bat again. Thatcham bowled very economically for the first 10 overs and picked up two early wickets and Stoke Green were struggling at 8 for 2. This lead Dan Simpson and Shameera Weerasinghe to set about building a partnership. Simpson was especially brutal on the Thatcham spinners and both batsman quickly brought up their 50's. Weerasinghe departed just after reaching his half century with the score on 121-3. Vish Arjan supported the aggressive Simpson who reached his second hundred of the season with the score on 175. Simpson departed shortly after reaching his hundred, Arjan and Hussain carried the score past 200 and with the lower order chipping in Stoke Green reached 220. Taking the old ball, Stoke Green chipped away at the Thatcham town top order straight away, trying to catch up with the run rate the Thatcham batsman gave their wickets away by playing needless shots. With 6 left hand batsman in the Thatcham team, Dhillon decided to bring Weerasinghe into the attack to bowl his off spin, this worked straight away and Weerasinghe ended up with 3 wickets. Williams who came in at number 9 had a go at the spinners and remained unbeaten on 58, Thatcham ended up on 166. Zulfi Butt picking up 6-73 and Weerasinghe with figures of 3-40.

Man of the match was Dan Simpson.
