Slough 2 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 14 Jun 2014 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won By 7 Wickets
Match report
After a demoralising loss against Chiswick and Latymer last week, Stoke Green were looking to bounce back against Slough.
With some overnight rain, the pitch seemed extremely wet and muddy and after winning the toss Slough chose to bat first, which was a surprising decision.
Raja Ifraz and Shameera Weerasinghe started with the new ball and bowled extremely tight lines and kept the pressure on the Slough batsmen. The Slough Batsmen tried pushing the score along but ended up getting themselves out and with some great fielding by captain Sukh Dhillon at slip and Hash Hussain at short leg, Slough were quickly 20 for 4. Slough never recovered from this start and were bundled out for 48. Raja Ifraz being the pick of the bowlers picking up 5-29.
Stoke Green started off slowly but on a difficult pitch were quickly reduced to 18-3 of 6 overs with Dan Simpson, Saud Ahmed and Shameera Weerasinghe back in the pavilion. This brought Chirag Desai and Vishal Arjan to crease needing 31 to win and with last weeks thoughts still fresh they set about slowly getting to the target. WIth some good running between the wicket and putting away the odd bad ball, Stoke Green chased the target down in 14 overs.
Stoke Green are now 36 points clear at the top.
