Kew 2 v Stoke Green Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 02 Jun 2012 at 13:00
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Stoke Green annhialated Kew 2 to remain top of the table. After blowing Kew over for 84, The Greens marched to a 8 wicket win.

Stoke travelled to Kew on a cloudy day where Sukh Dhillon yet had no luck with the toss. Asked to bowl, Richard Parker bowled another phenominal spell with the backing of vice-captain Dahron Pitt. Colt Saqlain Basharat took a fantastic catch running back, over his shoulder to give SG their first breakthrough. Kew were then 38-2 as all-rounder Saud Ahmed was brought on who ran through the middle order taking 4-35. After being reduced to 71-6, Parker took another 4 wickets to finally end Kew's innings at 84 as only 3 players managed double figures. The home team simply had no answers to the pace attack. Parker has now also taken 15 wickets in the last 3 games.

After tea, the sun came out as well as the the bat swing of opener Nadeem Chowdhry. Clive Bourne chipped in with 19 but was finally caught at square-leg trying to pull. Chowdhry carried on his big hitting as he scored 41 in just 25 balls. Tim Gillham (7*) and Saud Ahmed (15*) picked off the remaining runs. A comfortable win for The Greens as they secured 20 points which kept them top of the table.

Skipper Sukh Dhillon after the game, “After being put into field on a pitch that looked flat, I thought it could be a long afternoon, especially against a team lying second. We started well but they had a lot of luck with edges falling safe and in gaps, however a moment of brilliance form 14 year old Saqlain got us the first break through, he took a great catch over his head while running to the boundary.  This inspired us all and the bowl started to really swing, Saud bowed some unplayable deliveries with real pace and ripped through their top order. Richard once again bowled immensely and deserved his third straight 5-for.

We batted aggressively and made light work of the target. We are top now but , as I have told the lads, we can’t get complacent as its very early in the year and too early to be looking at league position. We have to carry on playing good hard cricket and the league table will look after itself."
