Kimble CC v Stoke Green Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 01 May 2011 at 13.30
Stoke Green Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Last year, SGCC managed to reach the final of the Village Knockout Cup as skipper Sukh Dhillon leaded the team all through the tournament after finally losing to Dinton CC in a close final.
So, first game of this years Village Cup (new skipper Farhan Sheikh) and SGCC are confident; they are playing away at Kimble CC.
SGCC won the toss and elected to field first. They managed to restrict the opposition down to 198-9 off there allotted 40 overs meaning they would be requiring just under 5 runs per over - SGCC however finished it in less than 20 overs! Irham Mughal gave SGCC a good start by blowing over the top order before Tim Gilham took 4 wickets to keep Kimble in check. Next, SGCC's innings...
It was an amazing innings from Dan Simpson who smashed 98 off just 48 balls with Clive Bourne also scoring at more than run-a-ball scoring 53. SGCC were 168-2 off 18 overs when 31 runs were needed and skipper Farhan Sheikh finished it by blasting 27 off 12 balls - easy win, new skipper = delighted!
